Academic Offerings

Through its affiliation with the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka the Buddhist and Pali College (U.S.A) is able to offer American students (domestic only) the following courses of study:

Diploma in Buddhism

This is a one-year course with five sections, each of which is covered in six weeks. Instruction for this course is offered at the Buddhist & Pali College (USA).  Students are expected to write a paper for each section. The sections are:

Geographical Expansion of Theravada Buddhism

Early history of Buddhism up to the 3rd century B.C.E

Undergraduate & Graduate Degrees & Diplomas in Buddhism

The Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka also offers to the following undergraduate and graduate degrees and diplomas. American students have the opportunity of sitting for the examinations for these degrees and diplomas as external students of the BPU through the Buddhist & Pali College (USA).  The examinations are conducted by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the U.S.A.
